The Smart Trade Pro “Invest or Not?” Global Cash Allocation Model has been in use for over a decade.
It is designed to give us a snapshot of the health of the global equities markets.

It is updated weekly, so check back every week to see the state of this valuable market gauge!

This model is part of a comprehensive three part investment strategy that answers the three key questions that any investment program must answer, whether you’re investing in real estate, a
business venture or the stock market.  Those three key questions are:

  1. Invest or Not?  Is now a good time to put new capital to work?
  2. Invest in What? If the answer to question #1 is yes, what do I buy?  Where do put that new
    capital to work?
  3. When do I Leave the Party?  Once I have invested my hard earned cash, when do I get out if things don’t go as planned and the value of the investment goes down?  And when do I get out and take profits if things DO go as planned and the value of the investment goes up?

The percent figure above reflects the fraction of global geographic regions that are showing intermediate term healthy activity.

How to use the model:  The simplest and best use of the Smart Trade Pro “Invest or Not?” Global Cash Allocation Model comes from deciding at any given point how much of your non-invested cash you should invest this week.  For example, if you have $10,000 in free cash and the model is at 30% (showing a moderately week rating for the global equities markets), you would only put 30% of that cash to work (or $3,000), leaving the rest in cash.  If the model is at 0%, you would put no new cash to work.  And at 100% you would put 100% to work.

A note should be made that the model was not designed to tell you when to exit positions – we use different tools for that important decision.  However, the model can help you prepare to get out.  Check back weekly to see the current reading for the model.  If it reads “0%” for two weeks or more in a row, you’ll know that global equities markets are showing universal signs of weakness.  You should make sure you have protective exits or stop losses in place.
